Cecile Giovannini
Cecile Giovannini is an Award winning, Italian-Swiss artist/researcher. In 2018 and 2019, she was selected by competition to work successively in Ticino and then in Genoa for artistic residencies. Narrative is one of the main threads of her work. As a teenager, she had a passion for cinema and collected video tapes which she bought on sale in the local video store where, once her studies were completed, she worked for two years. During this time, Cecile watched more than a dozen movies a week and reinforced her passion for well-told stories. Outside of film, comic books, Catholic sacred art, pagan legends and popular art forms feed her artistic work through which she speaks of an inner world oscillating between dream and reality. Her work explores the relationship between the body and its environment through various mediums such as painting, video, animation or installation. In 2019, she was awarded the Artpro multi-year grant, for her graphic novel project. In 2022, two of these visuals receive the Merit award from the prestigious mag 3X3. She is also a member of the Avocat Studio, a creative workshop and association founded in 2016: www.avocat-studio.com

Same Plate Different. Art meets culinary art and sustainable development. «Same Plate Different» is a unique project, in which sustainable development is perceived in a new and unusual way, both artistic and culinary. Swiss artists Pascal Möhlmann, Cécile Giovannini and Huber have created an exclusive design collection for Miele from vintage tableware. Inspired by the designs, Nenad Mlinarevic created a 4-course menu. The interaction between culinary art and visual art gives each passage a statement on sustainable development. The result was a multidisciplinary campaign, which began with the opening of the Neue Taverne, a vegetarian and starred restaurant, to which media professionals and influencers were invited. From October 21 to November 6, 2021, Same Plate Different was live in the Neue Taverne. On the Instagram channel of Miele Switzerland, the project received a platform with a multitude of posts and stories, where artists play the main role with plates and dishes.
This series of works began in 2019, during a residency in Genova, IT. It is inspired by the tradition of Ex-votos, works or objects, offered to a deity, a saint in request of a grace to or in thanks. There are currently more than 40 pieces. I make them according to my wishes, prayers or secret wishes or custom made for people who then share their prayers with me. <3 It is a moment of sharing that is immortalized through this realization <3
